Wendi StewartCanada English rights to debut novelist Wendi Stewart’s MEADOWLARK sold by Stephanie Sinclair to Newest Press for 2015.

Reminiscent of CROW LAKE by Mary Lawson and THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES by Sue Monk Kidd, MEADOWLARK is the story of what happens after the Archer family car goes through the ice on Rainy Lake one cold March day in 1962, claiming the lives of Rebecca’s mother and infant brother, and leaving her on a battlefield in a war of grief with her devastated father. Rebecca manages to find purpose in protecting her new friend Chuck from the hand of his violent and abusive father and offers guidance to Lissie, a young aboriginal girl adopted and raised in a white home by a single mother who demands preciseness and perfection. She soon discovers that in saving Chuck and Lissie, Rebecca may be able to save herself.
