Transatlantic is elated to announce that Film and Television rights to EVERYONE YOU LOVE IS DEAD, a short story in Sofi Papamarko’s debut fiction collection RADIUM GIRL, have been acquired by Lauren Grant at Clique Pictures and Sarah Timmins at Black Birds Entertainment!
The deal was brokered by Samantha Haywood.
Clique Pictures is a vibrant film and television production company that focuses on working with underrepresented creative talent in front and behind the camera. Clique Pictures is currently launching the hybrid documentary Wilfred Buck alongside Lisa Jackson’s Door Number 3 Productions as well as Lauren Grant’s short film Erase and Rewind. Lauren serves as an Executive Producer on the new Amazon Canada/Blumhouse/Sphere Media series The Sticky, which is in post-production. Clique Pictures is currently filming the documentary adaptation of Modern Whore by Andrea Werhun and Nicole Bazuin.
Toronto-based Black Birds Entertainment was founded by Sarah Timmins to produce engaging scripted content for audiences worldwide with partners from around the world. Sarah was most recently an Executive Producer on the award-winning medical drama series Transplant (CTV/NBCU/Sphere Media) which airs in 165 countries worldwide. Other projects with Black Birds (formerly Corvid Pictures) include the cult-hit comedy series Todd & The Book of Pure Evil and feature film The Tracey Fragments starring Elliot Page.
Sofi Papamarko is a former regular columnist for The Toronto Star, Sun Media Newspapers and Metro Canada. She’s also written for The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Flare, CBC, Reader’s Digest, Salon, Canadian Business, Exclaim! and many other publications, both living and dead. Sofi’s debut short fiction collection, RADIUM GIRL (Buckrider Books, 2021), was the Gold Winner of the 2021 Foreword INDIES Award for Short Stories, a finalist for the 2023 Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for Speculative Fiction, and was shortlisted for the 2022 ReLit Award for Short Fiction. Sofi is at work on a screenplay and a novel.
