Liza Charlesworth

Liza Charlesworth is a left-handed book developer and the author of more than 250 children’s titles for clients including Scholastic, Hachette, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Her career spans 25 years and more than 10 million printed books bear her name. Liza’s areas of specialty include rhyming picture books, licensed-character tales, and nonfiction topics ranging from the Pluto to penguins. Her innovative product lines include such bestsellers as First Little ReadersFirst Little ComicsGuided Science ReadersNonfiction Sight Word Readers, AlphaTales, and Book Buddies. With an expertise in guided reading, she prides herself on making kids’ first books whimsical, modern, and just-right for the trade market.

Liza is honored to have won a number of prestigious prizes including twelve Ed Press Awards and four Teacher’s Choice Awards. Over the years, she’s been a featured speaker at several writing conferences as well as the esteemed NYU Publishing Institute. She lives in New York City with her husband and twin sons, who provide daily inspiration.
