We are thrilled to share the news that following a competitive bidding war, Anonymous Content (Spotlight, The Revenant, Mr. Robot, True Detective) has secured feature film rights to the upcoming mind-bending novel Foe, from bestselling Canadian author Iain Reid. Kerry Kohansky-Roberts), and Steve Golin will produce, with Reid set to executive produce the film.
Foe follows the story of Junior and Henrietta, who live a comfortable, solitary life on their farm, far from the city lights, but in close quarters with each other. One day, a stranger from the city arrives with alarming news: Junior has been randomly selected to travel far away from the farm … very far away. The most unusual part? Arrangements have already been made so that when he leaves, Henrietta won’t have a chance to miss him, because she won’t be left alone—not even for a moment. Henrietta will have company. Familiar company. An eerily entrancing page-turner, Foe churns with unease and suspense from the first words to its shocking finale.
Foe will publish in Canada on August 7, 2018, with Scout Press/Simon & Schuster U.S. on September 4, 2018, and Scribner UK in Spring 2019, with other territories to follow. Reid is represented by Paradigm on behalf of Samantha Haywood of Transatlantic Agency.
Iain Reid’s bestselling debut novel, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, has sold in over twenty countries, and is currently in development for feature film at Netflix with Charlie Kaufman attached to adapt and direct, with Reid co-producing. He is also the author of two memoirs. Follow him on Twitter @reid_iain
