Six Transatlantic clients have been shortlisted for the 2020 Doug Wright Award for Best Book! The Doug Wright Awards were founded in May 2005 as a means of casting light on the wide range of cartoonists and comic artists working across Canada. The Doug Wright Award prize is awarded annually to the author of the best Canadian work and the most promising talent published in English in the cartooning medium. The 2020 Doug Wright Awards will be broadcast online on Saturday, May 9th, at 8 p.m.
Chelsea Vowel, Alicia Elliott and Katherena Vermette were shortlisted for their work on This Place: 150 Years Retold which was published by Highwater Press. Chelsea is represented by Stephanie Sinclair. Alicia is represented by both Samantha Haywood and Stephanie Sinclair, and Katherena is represented by Marilyn Biderman.
Kris Bertin and Alexander Forbes were nominated for The Cursed Hermit, published by Conundrum Press. Kris and Alexander are represented by Samantha Haywood.
Sarah Leavitt was shortlisted for Agness Murderess, which was published by Freehand Books. Sarah is represented by Samantha Haywood.
