Katherine Ashenburg is the prize-winning author of seven books and many magazine and newspaper awards. She has written for The New York Times and Toronto Life, among many others. Her books include Going to Town: Architectural Walking Tours in Southern Ontario, The Mourner’s Dance: What We Do When People Die and The Dirt on Clean: An Unsanitized History, one of The Independent’s Ten Best History Books of the year and one of the New York Public Library’s 25 Best Books of the Year, which has been published in 14 countries and eight languages. She published a children’s edition of The Dirt on Clean, called All the Dirt: A History of Getting Clean, which won the Green Award for best environmental children’s book of the year. Her debut literary fiction, Sofie & Cecilia, came out with Knopf Canada in 2018. Katherine’s second novel, Her Turn, was published with Knopf Canada and HarperCollins US in 2021.
