Marty Chan writes books for kids, theatre for adults, and social media posts for fun. His bestselling thriller Haunted Hospital has been adapted to French. His comic mystery novel, The Mystery of the Graffiti Ghoul, won the 2007 Diamond Willow Award, and his fantasy/adventure book won the OWL (elementary school category) in 2025. With over 40 years of experience in the writing fields of publishing, theatre, television, and radio, Marty is a well-rounded storyteller. He’s published 23 books and premiered over 30 stage plays. He’s inspired kids worldwide to read and write, all without leaving the comfort of his home studio. His dynamic virtual presentations have won over school audiences in Tokyo, New York, Mexico City, Chicago, Miami, London, and various communities across Canada. He works and lives in Edmonton with his wife and their two cats, Minnie and Hugo.
