Jacky is the creator, along with her husband David Soman, of the NY Times best-selling book series, Ladybug Girl. Their latest collaboration, Elvis & Romeo was picked by Barnes & Noble as a Best of 2025 Picture Book, and they are working away on more stories for these two different pups. Before writing children’s books, Jacky worked in book and magazine publishing and television production. Currently she enjoys working at Postmark Books, an indie bookstore in the Hudson Valley, and assisting at the local elementary school library where she sees first-hand which books continue to excite kids.

Jacky and David live in Rosendale, NY, the best town ever, with their family and a big, furry dog that somehow resembles both a lion and a polar bear.

David Soman grew up in New York City in a family of artists and has always loved drawing and painting. When his mom stopped him from doing this on the walls, and gave him some paper instead, his career path was set.

Over the years, he has illustrated many books, and with his partner Jacky Davis, created and illustrated the NY Times best-selling book series, Ladybug Girl. Currently they are working on a new series about the friendship Elvis & Romeo was picked by Barnes & Noble as a Best of 2025 Picture Book, and they are working away on more stories for these two different pups. When not working on a new book or making coffee, David is an instructor at The School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Both Jacky and David are represented by Elizabeth Bennett.
