We are thrilled to share The Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia’s announcement that Elizabeth de Mariaffi and Marq de Villiers are among the nominees for two out of three of the 2016 East Coast Literary Awards! Elisabeth de Mariaffi is nominated for the Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award for THE DEVIL YOU KNOW (HarperCollins Canada) while Marq de Villiers is nominated for the Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award for BACK TO THE WELL: Rethinking the Future of Water (Goose Lane). These two awards honour and celebrate quality writing by Atlantic Canadian authors. The Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award grants a prize of $25,000 to the winning author. The Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award awards the winning author $2000.
In Elisabeth de Mariaffi’s literary thriller THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, a murderer’s arrest rings too close to home for a rookie reporter, bringing haunting memories of her childhood best friend’s unsolved murder – and a stalker – right to her doorstep.
BACK TO THE WELL by Marq de Villiers examines the fate and future of water and asks difficult questions surrounding who owns water, whether it is a human right to have water, and whose job it is to keep it clean.
The winners of the awards will be announced at the East Coast Literary Awards in Halifax on June 4.
