Transatlantic is saddened by the passing of author-illustrator and beloved long-time client Wallace Edwards.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Wally attended high school at Lisgar Collegiate Institute and was a graduate of the Ontario College of Art (now OCADU), Toronto. He lived in Yarker, Ontario. Winner of the Governor-General’s award for his first book, Alphabeasts, he went on to write and illustrate 16 more books for children, winning many national and international awards. His most recent book, Do you Wonder?, was published in September 2021 by Scholastic Canada. His final artistic gift to children, the recently-completed picture book Pigs Can’t Fly, will be published in fall 2023.
He is remembered by friends and colleagues in the children’s literature community as both a great talent, and a warm and generous person. We will all miss him.
