Transatlantic is excited to announce that THE MUSEUM OF ODD BODY LEFTOVERS by Rachel Poliquin and illustrated by Clayton Hanmer has won in the children’s category of the 2022 Science Writers and Communicators of Canada (SWCC) Awards!
For over 20 years, the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada (SWCC) has recognized outstanding contributions to science writing with the annual SWCC Book Awards. In 2023, SWCC introduced its newest award: the Paradigm Prize for Underrepresented Perspectives in Science Writing. As an organization, SWCC recognizes the need to expand the landscape of science communication and better represent the diversity of contributors across our community. It is our hope that this type of paradigm shift will help to foster a more inclusive environment for science writers in Canada and abroad.

Rachel Poliquin writes about animals, mostly. She is the author of multiple books for children including The Superpower Field Guides, The Polite Predator Series, and The Strangest Thing in the Sea. She lives in Vancouver with her husband and three children.
Clayton Hanmer (aka CTON) has illustrated several children’s books, including Trending: How and Why Stuff Gets Popular and Dog vs Ultra Dog. His award-winning comic art has also appeared in, among others, National Geographic Kids, the New York Times, and Today’s Parent. He lives in Bloomfield, Ontario.
