We’re delighted to announce Renee Alcantara’s new role as Assistant Agent at Transatlantic Literary Agency!

Renee joined the Transatlantic Agency as an assistant in 2024, after building a well-rounded foundation in publishing through roles in literary agenting, scouting, and magazine publishing. A Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop alumnus, she graduated magna cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in creative writing and a concentration in creative nonfiction. She is mentored by Amanda Orozco, Noelle Falcis Math, and Brenna English-Loeb. Proudly hailing from Antipolo, Philippines, she is now based in Los Angeles.

Renee’s mandates include hooky, high-concept adult fiction with a focus on elevated but accessible writing. She’s drawn to quirky, strange and subversive narratives that are literary in their sensibilities but commercial in their execution. Horror, suspense & thriller, and grounded speculative fiction are of especially high priority. In non-fiction, she’s looking for cultural commentary and pop culture analysis that blends intensive reportage and expertise with personal narrative. She hopes to make her list a platform for voices that are under-served in publishing, especially from beyond North America.

Congratulations, Renee!
