We are thrilled to announce that World rights to QUEEN PITCH, by Stanford University lecturer and co-host of The Feminist Present podcast Laura Goode, have been sold to Julie Bennett at Ten Speed Press!
Throughout six years of writing education at Ivy League universities, including an almost $100,000 MFA from one of the most ‘prestigious’ writing programs in the country, not one professor taught Laura Goode how to pitch, publish, or get paid for her writing. This egregious gap in graduate humanities pedagogy reveals the urgent need for collective bargaining power among writers, which can only emerge from the free and promiscuous sharing of information, which Goode does unabashedly in QUEEN PITCH.
A craft book designed to guide writers through the business of selling their work, QUEEN PITCH’s stories, tips, and tricks dissect the process of pitching across genres. It asserts that a great pitch is simply a performance of confidence: with the right information, you can present a compelling argument for your work, no matter how terrified or underqualified you may feel.
Laura Goode is the author of two books, co-writer of a feature film, and co-host of the podcast The Feminist Present. She received her BA and MFA from Columbia University, and now teaches in the English department and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Stanford University, where she leads the student-facing side of Stanford’s Public Humanities Initiative.
Laura is represented by Amanda Orozco and Brenna English-Loeb.
Congratulations!
