Sahar Shams is a published author and illustrator originally from Iran, now living in the Bay Area. She holds an MFA in Visual Development from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has worked for children’s media companies like ABCMouse and has an animation background. After seven years as a product designer in large corporations, she decided to return to her passion—writing and illustrating for children—full-time. She is the founder of “The Little Soul,” a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching mindfulness to Iranian children. She has received multiple awards, including the “Tapestry of Voices / Equity & Inclusion” SCBWI Award in 2023, as well as picture book illustration awards in the Academy of Art University Spring Show in both 2017 and 2018.
