Transatlantic is thrilled to announce that world rights to Sierra Riley’s THE DARK COVE THEATRE SOCIETY, a queer, gothic coming-of-age YA debut novel that follows an aspiring young actor trying to find her place at the cutthroat, prestigious Dark Cove Arts Academy while contending with mental illness, a bisexual love triangle, and potentially a supernatural curse, have been acquired by Annick Press’ Jieun Lee with publication set for fall 2025!
This deal was arranged by Amanda Orozco at Transatlantic Agency.
Sierra Marilyn Riley is an Italian-Canadian actress, freelance journalist, and ghost enthusiast. Formerly an editor at SAD Mag and Narcity—and before that a library assistant—Sierra now writes and auditions from her home office in Toronto, which she shares with her partner/live-in reader.
You can find her words (on pop culture etc.) in Maclean’s, NUVO, PRISM, Vancouver Pride Magazine, and elsewhere. You can find her face (emoting etc.) in two upcoming TV shows.
THE DARK COVE THEATRE SOCIETY is Sierra’s YA debut. In writing this queer, gothic campus novel, the author drew from her experiences as a (highly anxious) theatre student.
Congratulations Sierra!
