Sarah Howden at Orca Book Publishers has acquired Dublin Literary Award-longlisted author Heather Smith’s picture book Sophie Shares the Stars, to be illustrated by Catherine Petit. In Sophie Shares the Stars, Sophie’s adoptive father, whom she calls “My Michael,” develops a chronic, invisible illness. But even though Michael can’t always do the things he used to, he’s still Sophie’s universe—and she is his. Publication is scheduled for September 2025. Amy Tompkins at Transatlantic Agency represented the author in a deal for world rights.
