
Author of the Giller Prize shortlisted THE DOUBLE LIFE OF BENSON YU Kevin Chong’s YORICK YIP MEETS THE LOCAL GOD, tracing the seemingly disconnected lives of a struggling Chinese-American musician living dangerously and an aging, reclusive novelist being pushed to confront her long-buried past, exploring financial and artistic precarity and storytelling as a redemptive tool enabling connection across generations, to Brittany Lavery at Scribner Canada, in a two book deal, for publication Summer 2027, by Samantha Haywood and Carolyn Forde at Transatlantic Agency (Canada).
Kevin Chong is the author of seven books of fiction and nonfiction, most recently the novel The Double Life of Benson Yu, which was a finalist for the 2023 Scotiabank Giller Prize and named a Best Book of Canadian Fiction by the CBC. His creative nonfiction and journalism have recently appeared in Time Magazine, Literary Hub, Montecristo, and the Globe and Mail. An associate professor at the UBC Okanagan, he lives in Vancouver with his family.
