Carolina Pfister is a Brazilian American writer and multimedia artist born in exile to Brazilian parents fleeing dictatorship. Raised across languages and geographies, the tension between belonging and self-invention continues to inform her work. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, Carolina came of age in Brazil’s punk movement as both artist and organizer. She is completing her debut narrative nonfiction manuscript, Other Bastards, thatfollows a wife’s desert road trip with a near-stranger and the remaking of a family. Blending lyrical storytelling with cultural criticism, dark fairytale elements and touches of magical realism, Other Bastards moves between North and South America to trace cultural inheritance and the unraveling of risk and reinvention.

Carolina is represented by Noelle Falcis-Math and Eva Oakes.
