Lara Hinchberger of Penguin Canada has acquired Canadian English rights to the new novel ONE TRUE THING by Zilla Jones, Writers Trust Rising Star, CBC Writer to Watch, CBC short fiction prize and Writers Trust RBC Bronwen Wallace award finalist, and Journey Prize winner.
At Christmas 1994, nineteen-year-old Freddie Mortimer vanishes, plunging her mother Georgina into traumatic memories of migration and racism. When Georgina learns Freddie has witnessed a tragic shooting, she races to find her before police.
The deal was arranged by Carolyn Forde of Transatlantic Agency, and publication is planned for Spring 2028.
