The winners will be announced across on Thursday, 26th May.
Don’t Call it a Cult by Sarah Berman (Viking Canada) has been shortlisted for The Brass Knuckles Award for Best Nonfiction Crime Book! Sarah Berman is an investigative journalist based in Vancouver covering crime, drugs, cults, politics, and culture. She is a former senior editor at VICE and past contributor to Adbusters, Reuters, Maclean’s, The Globe and Mail, the Vancouver Sun and other publications. Sarah is represented by Carolyn Forde.
Lost Immunity by Daniel Kalla (Simon & Schuster) has been nominated for Best Crime Novel Award! Daniel Kalla is an internationally bestselling author of novels, including Lost Immunity, The Last High, and We All Fall Down. His next book, The Darkness in the Light is publishing next week! Kalla practices emergency medicine in Vancouver, British Columbia. Daniel is represented by Samantha Haywood and Carolyn Forde.
Alice Fleck’s Recipes for Disaster by Rachelle Delaney (Puffin Canada) has been shortlisted for the Best Juvenile or YA Crime Book! Rachelle Delaney is the author of several middle-grade novels, including The Metro Dogs of Moscow, which was a CLA Book of the Year Honor Book, as well as a finalist for the Silver Birch Award and the Red Cedar Award, among others. Its sequel, The Circus Dogs of Prague, was shortlisted for the Pacific Northwest Library Association Young Reader’s Choice Award. The Bonaventure Adventures won BC’s Chocolate Lily Award in 2019 and Clara Voyant was a Chocolate Lily Award nominee. Rachelle is represented by Amy Tompkins.
