Samantha Haywood, President of the Transatlantic Agency, is delighted to announce that literary agent Rob Firing has been promoted to Partner. Alongside his great list of author clients, Rob is responsible for developing the Transatlantic Speakers Division into a growing force of primarily author-turned-speaker successes. Launched in 2018 and now representing more than 50 clients, Transatlantic Speakers has arranged over 350 speaking engagements since its inception, and business is growing quickly.

Among the agency’s newest speaking clients are critically acclaimed debut author of The Matzah Ball, Jean Meltzer, and debut author of Black and White: An Intimate, Multicultural Perspective on “White Advantage” and the Paths to Change, brand and marketing strategist Stephen Dorsey.

Indigenous voices, like author of the The Northwest is Our Mother Jean Teillet, Canada Reads winner Joshua Whitehead, and Canada Reads runner-up Clayton Thomas-Muller are among the most in-demand speakers.

Muslim voices, like author of Ayesha at Last and Hana Khan Carries On, journalist Uzma Jalaluddin, and acclaimed Little Mosque on the Prairie creator, author and producer Zarqa Nawaz, speak from their unique experiences.

Eternity Martis, author of They Said this Would Be Fun: Race, Campus Life and Growing Up; Samra Zafar, human-rights advocate and author of A Good Wife: Escaping The Life I Never Chose; and Scarborough and Crosshairs author Catherine Hernandez have shared their powerful personal perspectives with many thousands of people through public and private speaking engagements arranged by the agency.

Transatlantic Speakers is based on the idea that storytelling remains one of the most powerful ways we can relate to each other, and is intent on bringing the world’s most compelling storytellers, many of them bestselling authors writing in a great variety of genres, to audiences everywhere.

Transatlantic Speakers clients are separate clients from the Transatlantic Book division and may have literary representation elsewhere for book, or TV/film.
